The IC697MEM717 is a CMOS Expansion Memory manufactured by GE Fanuc for the 9070 series. It is available in the following four versions: 64, 128, 256 and 512 KB. IC697MEM717 is mainly purposed for logic and data memory expansion in the Programmable Coprocessor Module (PCM) IC697PCM711, CPU 771 or CPU 772 modules. Mounted as a daughterboard, IC697MEM717 is located in the same slot as the module it serves. Memory on IC697MEM717 board supplements memory available on the baseboard.

In the event of power loss, IC697MEM717 is retained by a specific lithium battery catalogued as IC697ACC701. The battery’s location is easily located on the baseboard housing. The battery is tasked with maintaining user memory when power is lost and also operates the calendar clock on the PLC CPU. A new battery must be installed before the old battery is removed. Battery shelf life is 10 years at the recommended temperature of 20 degrees Celsius or 68 degrees Fahrenheit.
